In the month of October & November, 2021 levels of air and noise pollution were monitored in different parts of the city under the CITIIS program. Under this, a total of 13 places of the city namely Bus Stand, Maqboolpura chowk, 100 Feet Road chowk, Bhagatwanla Chowk , DTO Office chowk, Rialto chowk, B-Block Market Ranjit Avenue, SSSS Chowk, Mustafabad BRTS Station (Batala Road ), Ratan Singh Chowk, Chehhata Chowk, Majitha Road Bypass Chowk and town hall were monitored 24 hours continuously with combo dust sampler machine and noise level meter. Where particulate matter (PM) 10 and PM 2.5 levels in the air have been reported higher than the normal value. An excessive amount of PM particles in the air is very harmful for health. Due to which about 6.5 lakh people die every year in the country and 19 thousand people in Punjab. There are many reasons for high pollution, the main one being the smoke emanating from the vehicles. If the residents use more and more public transport systems then the level of pollution can be reduced significantly.
ਸਾਲ 2020 ਦੇ ਅਕਤੂਬਰ-ਨਵੰਬਰ ਮਹੀਨੇਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿਟੀਜ਼ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਤਹਿਤ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਹਿੱਸਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਹਵਾ ਪ੍ਰਦੂਸ਼ਣ ਅਤੇ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਪ੍ਰਦੂਸ਼ਣ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਰਾਨੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਦੇ ਤਹਿਤ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੀ 13 ਮੁੱਖ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਬੱਸ ਸਟੈਂਡ, ਮਕਬੂਲਪੁਰਾ ਚੌਕ, ਸੌ ਫੁਟੀ ਰੋਡ ਚੌਕ, ਭਗਤਵਾਲਾ ਚੌਕ, ਡੀਟੀਓ ਦਫਤਰ ਚੌਕ, ਰਿਆਲਟੋ ਚੌਕ, ਬੀ-ਬਲਾਕ ਮਾਰਕੀਟ ਰਣਜੀਤ ਐਵੀਨਿਉ, ਫੋਰ ਐਸ ਚੌਕ, ਮੁਸਤਫਾਬਾਦ ਬੀਆਰਟੀਐਸ ਸਟੇਸ਼ਨ (ਬਟਾਲਾ ਰੋਡ), ਰਤਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਚੌਂਕ, ਛੇਹਟਾ ਚੌਂਕ, ਮਜੀਠਾ ਰੋਡ ਬਾਈਪਾਸ ਚੌਂਕ, ਟਾਊਨ ਹਾਲ ਚੌਂਕ ਵਿਚ 24 ਘੰਟੇ ਨਿਰੰਤਰ ਕੰਬੋ ਡਸਟ ਸੈਂਪਲਰ ਮਸ਼ੀਨ ਅਤੇ ਨੋਈਜ ਲੈਵਲ ਮੀਟਰ ਨਾਲ ਵਾਹਨਾਂ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਵਾ ਅਤੇ ਅਵਾਜ ਪ੍ਰਦੂਸ਼ਣ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਰਾਨੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸ ਤਹਿਤ ਹਵਾ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਰਟਿਕੁਲੇਟ ਮੈਟਰ (ਪੀ.ਐੱਮ.) 10 ਅਤੇ ਪੀ.ਐੱਮ. 2.5 ਦਾ ਪੱਧਰ ਔਸਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਦਰਜ਼ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ I ਹਵਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਮਾਤਰਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੀ.ਐੱਮ.ਕਣ ਸਿਹਤ ਲਈ ਬਹੁਤ ਨੁਕਸਾਨਦੇਹ ਹਨ I ਜਿਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਹਰ ਸਾਲ ਤਕਰੀਬਨ 6.5 ਲੱਖ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿਚ 19 ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਲੋਕ ਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਪ੍ਰਦੂਸ਼ਣ ਦੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਮੁੱਖ ਵਾਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਨਿਕਲਦਾ ਧੂੰਆਂ ਹੈ । ਜੇ ਆਮ ਸ਼ਹਿਰੀ ਆਵਾਜਾਈ ਲਈ ਵੱਧ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਪਬਲਿਕ ਟ੍ਰਾੰਸਪੋਰਟ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਦੂਸ਼ਣ ਦੇ ਪੱਧਰ ਕਾਫੀ ਕਟ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Traffic Survey of Auto Rickshaw’s in Amritsar City

In the month of January and February 2020, under the CITIIS program Amritsar Smart City Limited conducted a comprehensive study of Auto Rickshaws, for a continuous period of 30 days at 99 strategic locations across the city. As part of the study, a passenger occupancy survey for every auto was carried out. The total number of passengers seated in each respective auto were counted. The survey was conducted for a continuous duration of 14 hours per day from 7 am to 9 pm. A common sight in Amritsar, is that auto rickshaws are overloaded with more than 8 to 10 passengers, but through the analysis of the survey, the overall average passenger occupancy is very low at just 2.6 passengers per trip.
ਸਾਲ 2020 ਦੇ ਜਨਵਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਫਰਵਰੀ ਮਹੀਨੇਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿਟੀਜ਼ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਤਹਿਤ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ 99 ਵੱਖ ਵੱਖ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਪੂਰੇ 30 ਦਿਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਆਟੋ ਰਿਕਸ਼ਾ ਦਾ ਟ੍ਰੈਫਿਕ ਸਰਵੇਖਣ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ । ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਸਮਾਰਟ ਸਿਟੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਿਰਫ ਡੀਜ਼ਲ, ਸੀਐਨਜੀ ਆਟੋ ਅਤੇ ਈ-ਰਿਕਸ਼ਾ ਤੇ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਗਏ ਇਸ ਸਰਵੇਖਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਚਲ ਰਹੇ ਆਟੋ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਤੇ ਬੈਠੇ ਯਾਤਰੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਸਵੇਰੇ 7 ਵਜੇ ਤੋਂ ਰਾਤ 9 ਵਜੇ ਤੱਕ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ। ਇਹ ਅਕਸਰ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕਈ ਵਾਰ, ਆਟੋਰਿਕਸ਼ਾ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਸਵਾਰੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਓਵਰਲੋਡ ਕਰਕੇ ਆਟੋ ਚਲਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ । ਪਰ ਜੇਕਰ ਆਟੋ ਰਿਕਸ਼ਾ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਟ੍ਰਿਪ ਸਵਾਰੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਔਸਤ ਲਈ ਜਾਏ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਸਿਰਫ 2.6 ਹੈ, ਜੋਕਿ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਚਲ ਰਹੇ ਆਟੋ ਰਿਕਸ਼ਾ ਦੀ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਰਫ ਅੱਧਾ ਹੀ ਹੈ ।
